So Saddam Had WMDs After All?
From Hardball on 11/7/05 (all emphasis mine):
Will update as I get more info.
Chris Matthews: I just wondered, analytically, how would you best describe the manner in which the vice president and his people and others in the administration looked at this intel that you've just described. What was it, selective use? Was it a skewed use of it? Was it a worst-case scenario? Was it deliberate lying?Hmmm. Interesting. I'm assuming that since he's on the Senate Intel Committee, he would have had access to the prewar intelligence... Does he know something we don't? (HT: Stephen Hayes)
Senator Carl Levin [ed: 2nd-ranking ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee]: I think they ignored the intelligence that did not support their decision to go to war, basically. They were looking for those snippets of intelligence that would support their decision to go to war. That is basically what their signal was.
[...]
Matthews: What came first do you believe, Senator? Their desire to go to war or the way they looked at the evidence?
Sen. Levin: I think basically they decided immediately after 9/11 to go after Saddam. They began to- Look, there was plenty of evidence that Saddam had nuclear weapons, by the way. That is not in dispute. There is plenty of evidence of that.
Here's a sampling of fun stuff we found in Iraq since we invaded:Taken by themselves, each story isn't really enough to confirm anything, just as ------ -----I- doesn't give you much to go on in Wheel of Fortune. However, when you take them all together, it's pretty apparent what SA--AM HUSS-IN is going to be. Also, the list above is by no means comprehensive. If you have other examples, let us know in the comments.
10/7/03 - Botulinum from an Iraqi's scientist's home. The scientist had also had anthrax in his possession at one point. Remember that Iraq was the suspected source of the anthrax letters in late 2001. Also noted is a document seeking to purchase Uranium from an African country (not Niger).
2/3/04 - Cyanide Salt, found in the former safe house of Zarqawi, Al Qaeda's liason in Iraq. "Exposure to even a small amount through contact or inhalation can cause immediate death." Zarqawi is also believed to have been manufacturing Ricin.
5/17/04 - Sarin, Mustard Gas. Chemicals contained in a 155-mm artillery shell from the Saddam era. Iraqi nuclear scientist Gazi George says many WMD elements were transported to Syria, and could be trickling back in insurgent hands.
7/7/04 - Enriched Uranium, "Radioactive Sources" which the U.N. apparently knew existed.
8/28/05 - Yellowcake Uranium, hidden centrifuge parts and blueprints. Specifically, 500 tons of yellowcake found at the Al Tuwaitha weapons plant (where the uranium in the above story was removed from, as well). Also, after the Sarin artillery shell mentioned above, another 24 shells were discovered in June 2004.
Will update as I get more info.

Whoa! What's with the pink trackback box. Are you guys trying to tell us something?
Of COURSE saddam had WMD programs. But you'll never hear about any of this stuff in the MSM because people might start to think Bush DIDN'T lie about them.
I secretly love the color pink.
I wish our site looked like this: http://trent.blogspot.com/ (Go check out that site for real. Its kinda funny.)
